"It is in this trembling, deviant, displaced and infinitely distorted movement that life exists?
Cher, a solo by Juan Carlos Lérida, is the search for an autotune for the out-of-tune body. A variety show that extracts oil from the ground to set fire to the theatre and to be able to see the future"
«The Liturgy of the Hours» is a process of research and creation that will be consolidated into an itinerant artistic event that lasts 12 hours, starting from the meeting with guilds, workers and groups. The event takes place in six paintings conceptually inspired by the number 12 and dramatically following the path of Jesus Christ, from the Last Supper to the Resurrection, extrapolating those references and symbols to flamenco through bodies and everyday spaces.»The Liturgy of the Hours» speaks to us of offices and resurrection, of mastery and emancipation, of bodies transcended through sacrifice, rituality, atonement, reflection and farewells. With this work, the choreographer proposes to cross the flamenco from the everyday, and in the everyday see his own spirituality and sacredness revealed. The audience is invited to live the different stages of this «Via Crucis» announced, through transformative experiences, both intimate and collective, which manifest the uniqueness of Juan Carlos Lérida’s proposal. The project integrates public and private places in the neighborhood surrounding the theater, such as an auto repair shop, a gym, a plaza.
El Arte de la Guerra” (The art of War) accompanies the warrior through his path towards emptiness; the path that is birthed through innocents and dies in the meaninglessness of violence. This sad ritual of de-humanisation is realised as the cost of mutual defeat. Loosers are those who die, and those who do not.
“El Arte de la Guerra” is the union of different artist’s knowledge and sensitivity in contemporary flamenco. It is a creation that uses the rich rhythm, sensitivity and passion of the art, the physicality of contemporary dance, and a musical combination of flamenco, electronic and acoustics.
A dancing show based on the J.L. Lagance homonymic story.
A piece composed by looking back at its trajectory, with a natural revision imposed by the passing of time and its experience and evolution. Every night a guest artist will be invited to take part in this danced biography.
In my interest in watching the various bodies that represent the expressive and conceptual foundations of Flamenco: El Cante (The singing), El Toque (The guitarrist), El Baile (The dance), exposes me as Bailaor-Dancer, choreographer and pedagogue to discover intrinsic characters in those bodies and movements of these «characters» to dissect and expose them through a choreographic work. This I have tried to manage my capacity as researcher movement and creator of the dance, with the aim of showcasing new methods of transmission and reception of flamenco and dance, from own subject of study as well as myself. The method to follow is materialized from the realization of different approaches(acercamientos) to each of the basics of flamenco. Solo or accompanied I researched and presented each time the result of the creative process in scenic, literary or plastic formats. The completion of the last stage of rapprochement officially opens the piece.
